Jaujurek Myn bala

As a “Special event” of “Eurasia” festival, the historical drama “Jaujurek Myn bala” directed by Akan Satayev will be shown in “Almaty Towers” cinema on September 20, at 20.00. This film is the box-office leader among Kazakh movies and it collected around 2 mln. dollars. The action takes place in the 1st half of the 18th century, when the unity and valor of Kazakh people become the key force in getting freedom in murderous war with Jungars. According to the story the young warriors with their leader Sartai fight together with adults to defend their native land. His legendary troops, known as “Myn bala” enters an unequal fight with the enemy and changes the pace of war.

Akan Satayev

Akan Satayev is one of the leaders of contemporary Kazakh cinema. He founded a private film company “Sataifilm” in 2003. He was making the commercial films as a director and producer. In 2007 he came up with “Racketeer” that became a national blockbuster and brought him more than 1 mln. dollars during the first days of its release. In 2008, Akan Satayev makes a series film “Brothers” that also becomes very famous among the audience. In 2009, the mystical drama “Lost one” was nominated with highest award “Kulager” of the Union of Kazakhstan Cinematographers as the “Best film of the year”. In 2020, the director produces the criminal drama “Liquidator” and Canadian company finds it interesting to distribute.
